With more than 800 registered exhibiting companies, Chillventa is set to break all records for a first-time trade fair for the HVAC&R industry. is reporting live from this key event to keep you updated on latest CO2 Technology developments.

More than 30,000 international trade visitors are expected to arrive at the Nuremberg Messe centre from 15-17 October to explore product innovations for the cooling and refrigeration industry. The 30,000 m2 exhibiting space spread over six halls will accommodate exhibitors from 43 countries specialised on the cooling of perishable goods, data centres, commercial buildings, industrial plants and homes. Moreover, suppliers of air conditioning components and manufacturers of heat pumps for space and hot water heating will be present. According to the Chillventa organising team, nearly all leading global manufacturers in the core segments compressors, air conditioning systems, and heat exchangers will gather in Nuremberg from Wednesday on.

The first Chillventa trade fair ever organised will focus on “Energy Efficiency and Savings” – probably both the biggest challenge and opportunity the cooling and refrigeration industry currently faces. Chillventa’s organisers thus hope to further spur environmental consciousness among manufacturers, facility managers and system planners. Given that 14% of all electric energy in Germany, or 66 billion kWh, is used for climate and cooling applications, the industry has already reacted with a wide range of new components, systems and services to lower energy consumption at equally high performance.

CO2 Technology at Chillventa

As the adoption of natural refrigerants is gathering pace, CO2 equipment is expected to be in high demand at Chillventa. Leading manufacturers and suppliers will showcase CO2 components and systems for different applications, ranging from gas coolers, heat exchangers, air coolers, blast freezers, leak detectors, lubricants, valves and fittings, to complete CO2/NH3 machine rooms and air-water heat pumps.

Live Reporting from Side Events

The trade fair will be accompanied by a supporting programme covering the whole spectrum of the international refrigeration and air conditioning industry: from natural refrigerants, energy efficiency, heat recovery, refrigeration in the food trade and commercial refrigeration to heat pumps. More specifically, will keep you updated on the following events:

DKV Heat Pump Symposium: Held on the Tuesday before the official opening of Chillventa, this event will discuss latest advances in industrial heat pump technology and its potential in heating, cooling and climatisation.

ASERCOM / EPEE Symposium: On Tuesday afternoon, the Association of European Refrigeration Compressor and Controls Manufacturers (ASERCOM) and the European Partnership for Energy and Environment (EPEE) invite industry experts to a series of lectures about current and forthcoming EU directives and regulations with an impact on the air conditioning and refrigeration industry.

Industrial Heat Pump Village: A special focus this year is set on events and product presentations centering around heat pumps for industrial use. A 400 m2 area will be dedicated exclusively to manufacturers, industry associations and organisations involved in promoting heat pump technology. A daily forum, organised by DKV, will provide visitors with further updates on industrial heat pumps.

eurammon Natural Refrigerants event: On Thursday, 16 October, eurammon - a European initiative for natural refrigerants – will hold a workshop to discuss “Refrigeration Applications with Natural Refrigerants”. The first lecture will explore CO2 cooling in data centres and buildings, while others will talk about natural refrigeration in supermarkets and servicing issues. The event is organised by eurammon to answer questions from visitors interested in the use of natural refrigerants, including ammonia and carbon dioxide.
